Disruption starts most successfully with startups. It’s the only way they generally survive, so new business models are the engine for successful new businesses.
Today I had the opportunity to speak with a group of engaged startup founders, serial entrepreneurs, and enterprise business people about the emerging models for new disruptors.
Transitioning from Asset & Service -based Businesses
The biggest change is a strong transition from asset based businesses where you own the inventory, the infrastructure, etc. and/or you provide services of someones time.
Transitioning to technology creators who sell software (Salesforce) and/or network orchestrators who use technology platforms to manage other people’s assets without owning them (Airbnb, Uber, Spotify). These models have reduced overhead and are technology driven. Driving better profit margins and increased scalability.
