This week the team I work with launched a beta release of the new company, Handled. In simple terms, Handled is your personal assistant throughout your move. We help you find and hire the best movers and moving companies, we help you manage your move with simple technology and clear communication, and we help you take care of all of the other home services you need. Simply put, Handled helps you feel at home.
Here’s a little bit of how it came to be…
Born from disruptive DNA, empowered by the biggest in the business.
Handled’s story is about two great teams coming together to create the most ambitious company in moving & relocation. The strength lies in an industry ready for a company to bring a completely modern customer experience, everywhere.
Great customer experience is the benefit of building a lean, disruptive company grounded in experimentation, data science, strong teams, and not settling for poor answers passed on from previous generations.
Ask Hard Questions
Handled is built on a legacy of growth and strength. But, using the strength to propel the new startup, not weigh it down with, “we’ve always done it this way.” Asking the hard questions is core to who Handled is. It’s a core trait of all Hands.
We don’t assume we know what no data has shown us. Handled doesn’t take for granted the needs and wants of our co-workers, community, and customers. We ask them.
We have hard conversations and answer with transparency. It’s about being honest. Intellectually and emotionally.
Focusing on asking is important because we know we don’t always find answers. Even when we can’t find answers, we believe in the pioneering attitude of asking. When we keep asking, we are likely to discover more diverse answers than we ever thought possible.
Choose to Care
In addition to asking hard questions, Handled is built by people who care. Caring for each other as Hands and caring for the communities and customers we serve.
We recognize caring relies on two things: 1) Doing; and 2) Choosing. We can’t just feel like we care. We have to do something about it.
Every day we choose to care as we log in, walk-in, and show up. Becoming owners of our ability to impact. If we choose to care, then there’s nothing we can’t overcome.
Get it Done Well
We get the job done. Always. We meet our commitments head-on, and you can count on Hands to do whatever is necessary to make it happen. We serve our customers and each other with the same purpose, drive, and dedication, and it knows no bounds.
In doing whatever it takes, we also believe in doing a superb job. There’s no point in doing rework. We work with purpose and speed and seek to perform at the highest levels. That level of quality and speed is only possible when we work together.
Work Together
Next, we can’t forget how Handled came to be. Born from a joint effort to make things better. Working together, team members asked hard questions and cared about getting the real answers.
Together, these teams have built a blended working model that combines the best of both organizations and teams. Forming a team of teams.
Working together means that moving hands and office hands are partnered to care and solve problems together. It means being a great partner to agents, strategic partners, and customers too. Solving problems together.
We have a responsibility to share our narrative. To pass it on from generation to generation of Hands at Handled. Grounding each of us in an identity that’s so much bigger than ourselves.
We’ve had our ups and our downs. Success and failures. We will have more of both but know we have an organizational history and pattern that shows we can overcome it together.
